Red Deer

The city of Red Deer is Central Alberta's primary transportation, economic and residential hub, located midway between the major urban centres of Calgary and Edmonton on Highway 2. Set in midst of Alberta's fertile farmland and gently rolling hills with the Rocky Mountains visible along the southwest horizon, Red Deer is one of the fastest growing communities in Canada and services an outlying market of over 2 million people within a 160 kilometre radius. With a population of 90,500 and a real estate market containing over 38,000 homes, condominiums and apartments, Red Deer is a bustling and diverse community. The city's population is one of the youngest in Canada, with a median age of 35.

As the largest urban centre in Central Alberta, Red Deer is home to almost all of the region's major amenities ranging from major stores, grocery and restaurant chains to a mix of smaller, locally-run cafes and shops. The city provides comprehensive police, health and emergency services, and offers an excellent education system including both public and Catholic school boards in addition to the acclaimed Red Deer College.

Red Deer has a wide range of recreational options for all ages and activity levels, including Collicutt Centre, a large complex housing an ice rink, indoor soccer field, running track, pock, weight room, and a fieldhouse. Great West Adventure Park is a popular BMX biking track, and skiers enjoy the slops at Canyon Ski Hill located only 10 minutes from the city.

The city is proud to offer its residents ample green space and parkland within the city, including the picturesque Bower Ponds in Waskasoo Park, Great Chief Athletic Park, Kiwanis Picnic Park, and the popular Heritage Ranch near the Red Deer River, which offers horseback riding and hay rides in addition to its park and picnic facilities.
